Child Safety School Program
MBF - Child Safety Matters
Child Safe of Central Missouri, Inc. is proud to partner with The Monique Burr Foundation for Children to offer the MBF Child Safety Matters curriculum for students in grades K-5. MBF Child Safety Matters is a comprehensive, evidence-based curriculum that educates and empowers children with information and strategies to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to bullying, cyber-bullying, all types of abuse, and digital abuse dangers.
Additional Information
This program was developed with schools and is presented in two comprehensive lessons ranging from 35-55 minutes (or in four shorter lessons) by a trained facilitator in the classroom. MBF Child Safety Matters features developmentally appropriate material for each grade level, based on Polyvictimization research and provides universal protection strategies.
Program topics include:
- Safety awareness and responsibility
- Identifying safe adults
- Types of abuse (physical, sexual, emotional, and neglect)
- Red flag behaviors
- Bullying
- Cyber-bullying
- Digital abuse
- Safety and citizenship
- Implementing the five safety rules
The program has also been examined by two independent research studies to determine effectiveness. Results are positive for both student knowledge gains and facilitator implementation fidelity.
